Communicating about housing in the UK

Obstacles, openings and emerging recommendations

We need a new conversation about housing in the UK, to build greater public support and action to deliver quality homes for all.

In this strategic brief, we outline the way the public thinks about housing, and how these mindsets can create barriers to achieving better housing, and emerging recommendations for where the conversation needs to go next.

These findings are from original research by the FrameWorks Institute, in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Nationwide Foundation, seeking to understand existing public perceptions of housing.
